Family Room Turned Kitchen

This is the usual state of this room. It is meant to be a family room, and does a nice job of it.

For the next few weeks, however, it will be doing double duty.

It has metamorphosised into a kitchen/family room. See? I've got an electric skillet, crockpot, lamp, coffeemaker, toaster, microwave. The island is still stocked as it was in the kitchen.

Just beyond the island is the bottom part of a freestanding cabinet that provides more work area. We pushed the books in the bookcase back too. That give more shelf room for kitchen necessities.

We eat by the fireplace and have a little fridge just beyond that.
I can't WAIT til the kitchen is done, the house is cleaned back up and life goes back to better than normal! I am so thankful to be able to build a new kitchen.

Have a wonderful Met Monday! Be sure to visit BNOTP for Metamorphosis Monday!

Sooooooo neat!

Usually, when people have to make-do, while a room [especially a kitchen] is being done over.... It's usually a messy-mess.

But yours is neat as a pin!

You are AMAZING!!!

That works! I had a friend while she was building a new kitchen washed dishes in the bath tub! That was not a good plan...yuck. I cannot wait to see the new kitchen...you too I know. hugs♥olive

This is a big deal! You've got your temp. kitchen all outfitted which will make it so much easier on you. I was lucky when we redid our kitchen to have a wet bar in the family room, which meant no doing dishes in the bathtub! I cooked every meal on a two burner I purchased at the drug store. It was like camping, only better! Enjoy the process.

It is good that you are able to do this temporary kitchen - very clever! I understand how it is to have rooms out of order and wanting your home to get back to normal. I can't wait to see the end result of your new kitchen!
God Bless,
Kathy

Oh good luck roughing it while the new kitchen goes in. I can't think of a more exciting renovation in a house than a new kitchen -- the heart (and stomach!) of the home.

Make sure you take lots of pictures of progress on the kitchen, not just the final reveal. We're all so nosey in Blogland. :-)

Your temp kitchen looks all ready to go -- but it will get old fast. But all SO worth it!

You are going to love having your kitchen done but it looks like you will manage nicely for now.

You are so organized, you will surely make it through the next little while without your "real" kitchen. A lot of us have. Deep breath ... Can't wait to see your new kitchen! I'm following!
