Vintage Kitchen Wallpaper

I came home the first day of the kitchen remodel to see this.

Everything had been removed and hauled away from the remodel wall.

The room was clean as a whistle. I was so impressed and delighted.

I wonder what the kitchen was like when this wallpaper was new.

I think it was an eat-in kitchen back then. I imagine a nice big white freestanding sink with built in drainboard. An old fashioned stove. Pretty simple.

After all, this house is 101 years old, even if this wallpaper isn't. Who knows, maybe it is???

And here is what I came home to today!

Have a fabulous Rednesday and White Wednesday! And make sure to visit Faded Charm (http://fadedcharmcottage.blogspot.com/)and It's a Very Cherry World (http://suelovescherries.blogspot.com/) for their wonderful parties!

I am glad you like your found wallpaper. The wallpapers in our old house are on plaster walls and are wretched to take off. I am never doing it again in fact. The new cabinets are beautiful. I know you are so excited! hugs♥olive

That wallpaper is so sweet - such a bygone era! Your cupboards look fab! (I hope that's what you came home to and not something I'm missing! LOL)

Oh, aren't you going to miss that sweet wallpaper? It's adorable. Much nicer than the ugly brown and white wallpaper that was in our kitchen, along with pumpkin-colored cupboards. It's a wonder I was even able to see past all that ugliness when we first saw the house!
Your cupboards are gorgeous. Can't wait to see what's going on the walls!
Happy REDnesday!

What darling little scenes on your vintage wallpaper. I've not seen this paper before so find it fascinating and also find myself wondering if there's any way you can do something cool with a chunk of this... clean it up and frame it for your kitchen?

What a delightful find! On your 'trip' to a new kitchen.

But oh! It's gone. I think that's what you mean. -sigh- Wish you could have saved a bit of it. You have these pictures of course. But, a little bit of the old wallpaper, itself...

Ahhhhhhhhh, I see that Vee has the same wish!!! :-)

I'm with Vee and Amelia. If you have a little piece of it I would try framing it. The only history in our home is ours. We purchased it pre-construction 21 years ago.

Love the new cabinets. If you do something with the wallpaper, don't forget to share. It would definitely be fun.

I love old houses. Mine is a 1920's sears and roebuck house that I have lived in for many years and still discovering some of the houses past. ~~Sherry~~

Your cabinets are gorgeous! I really do like the vintage look of wallpaper. My parents remodeled a very old home while I was growing up. They found newspaper on the walls dated from the Civil War. These old homes are like a time capsule, don't you think?
