Yes, I do enjoy cleaning the house. This day was devoted to details that aren't done as regularly as the usual weekly chores.
I wiped down the wood floors, instead of just dust mopping. This is a thrill for me because I enjoy looking at the patina, the character and the age of the wood.
I also wiped down the light fixtures, original to the house.
I washed bedding and linens. The quilt we keep on the couch looks new again.
I even dusted the picture frames. This ancestral picture is of my great great grandparents.
It is a wonderful calling to be a homemaker. I am blessed!

I love housekeeping too and always have, even as a kid. Nothing makes me feel better than to take a day and deep clean everything and enjoy the sparkle and fresh scents! My brother has my grandmother's Duncan Phyfe sofa, which appears to be what yours is. What a treasure you have with your great grandparents' portrait and the light fixtures and hardwoods are so pretty. Glad you had fun.
I love it too, when you can actually feel everything is clean! Unfortunately it doesn't stay like that for very long.. lol! take care, Maryann
You are spring cleaning my friend. The floors look fabulous by the way. I love it when all the cleaning is over and that clean smell lingers for a bit.
I need a day like that, but I doubt that I'll enjoy it as much as you do. Everything looks great.
when can u come over!! It does feel good when you get it done! Love seeing your light fixtures and how great to have the ancestoral picture!
I'm planning to take some time next week for spring cleaning. I love the photos of your house. My grandparents lived in an apartment building that was built during the first world war. The old steam heater brought back memories of their apartment - good memories, good times.
Blessings,
Joan
Hi Carol, I love your wooden floors. Wood glows after it's been given that extra omphy clean and buff.It makes me smile to see that glow.
Thank's for the visit.

Deep cleaning is something that I do quiet often. It is wonderful to clean...and smell the freshness in the air when it is all done!
What a lovely home you have...truly a blessing!
Maria.
I love the feeling of deep cleaning too...especially the feeling when it's done!
Bless you!
It seems like you have started your spring cleaning early. It's so satisfying to feel everything about you is clean and fresh. I love the picture of your great grandparents. They look so solemn don't they?
Oh I think a clean house and the fruit of our hands is by far a great simple pleasure...I so enjoy visiting your home, just beautiful

Carol, so glad you dropped by; I haven't been making rounds lately. :( But, I too agree a clean house from top to bottom, nothing can compare. I seem to be wanting to losing my steam, (can't pull it all off in one day anymore)but I too enjoy it!
There is nothing like the feeling of a deep down clean house. I will often use unexpected days off to clean, too. I love all the original fixtures in your home.
You deserved the cookies after all that cleaning...the hardwood floors are beautiful!
Loved this, Carol. There is something pleasurable about cleaning.
So fun stopping by to see your Simple Pleasures! What a great photo of your great great grandparents!
Kindly, Lorraine
