I don't take breaks at work. So to pack lunch or dinner, it's usually cheese and an apple.
The type of cheese and apple are very important.
A sharpish cheese. A (no compromise here!) Gala apple.
Take a little bite of cheese. Add a little bite of apple.
Taste the sharpness and creaminess of the cheese alongside the sweet tang of the crisp and juicy apple.
Repeat until gone.
Joining Dayle for Simple Pleasures Thursday!

I love your kind of lunch and adore strong cheeses. Joni
I miss cheese... can't eat it, swells up my joints. What I wouldn't do for a nice smoothy brie... okay now i am just salviating like a fool!
Hi Carol...thanks for visiting my blog and also for your nice comment about my fireplace. It certainly was an improvement! I like this post...I don't take breaks at my job either. I work through lunch so I can leave 30 minutes early. Many times it's just fruit and cheese/crackers or maybe a cup-a-soup. Nice to meet you ~ Ann
Oh cheese is a simple pleasure for me...now I haven't tried this cheese..and with an apple that is the great. I also love cheese soup with an apple.
Yummy! I love cheese and apples. I'll have to try them together.
Blessings,
Joan
Yum! Your lunch was better than mine! :D *crunch, crunch*
Oh I love cheese and fruit...apple, pear, grapes....yummmm!
Yummy! I can almost smell your apple! :)
Be a sweetie,
Shelia ;)
You are a girl after my own heart.
Best lunch, anytime and anywhere!
Ooh, yum. I LOVE cheese especially with fruit. I usually have mine with grapes. It's the perfect meal. Oh my, Carol, now I'm hungry and it's 10:45 pm and there's no cheese and no grapes. :( Grocery store is first on my to-do list tomorrow. ;) Oh yummy, what a great simple pleasure.
Hugs!
Carol, that's one of my go-to snacks, except I go for the green apples ... and grapes are a good substitute, as well.
Now I'm hungry. :)
Well, that's a nice healthy lunch, Carol!
I like Gala too - I prefer a crunchy apple to a floury one any day :-)
blessings..Trish
I love to snack on apples. John loves the sharp cheese.
This is a delicious lunch for sure...and easy to pack :) My favorite apple - Granny Smith - yummm

Yum, yum! One of my favorite snacks! Now, add a nice carrot muffin and a glass of ice cold milk and you have a complete meal.
Do you know that I never had apples and cheese until I went home with the now husband for the first time? His mom served it. I was HOOKED.
I happen to like the gala and sharp cheese combination too.
Sounds Perfect! Now I am hungry. Blessings <3 Paula
Carol, that sounds like the perfect treat to me! I like sharpish cheese, too.
Hope you are well and that all is happy in your world. Speaking of which Happy St. Patrick's Day to you. Remember to wear green so you won't get pinched. LOL!
I have missed you, and I hope to be blogging regularly again soon. I keep wondering if I am ever going to get caught up, and then I remind myself "One day at a time." Our server in St. A is goofy so I long for the painters to leave so I can go home. We're having work done in both places. It's a trip! ;-)
Sending you big hugs.
XO,
Sheila :-)
I think its yummy too love chesse and apples together !!!
Sounds like a great combination...all you need is some pie crust and sugar. ;>
Hi Carol,

When I was a young married, I had an older friend who fed us youngsters sliced apples and cheese. I thought it was quite sophisticated...now it just looks yummy.
Love gala apples, and cheese, such a great simple pleasure.
Sue
I like sharp (white) Tillamook cheddar with my Gala apple! ;-)
When I find myself too busy to stop to make a lunch - that's the type I go for - just love the combination - or peanut butter and apple -
simply delicious!
Kathy
and . . .
it is ever so important to make all the bites come out even in the end.
I'm with you on the whole cheese and apple thing! On Sundays we always fellowship all day so we potluck around 1:30. Since we eat this large meal early afternoon we're not as hungry for the evening meal. Most Sundays for dinner I serve everyone a bowl of stove popped popcorn with sea salt, a slice of cheese, and apple wedges.
