Thank you again for your kind thoughts and prayers for Isaac and for us.

Although he is almost 12, Isaac still has a penchant for eating things that he shouldn't. He got into Chickie's purse and ingested a tampon, one of the worst intestinal foreign bodies possible.
The absorbent part swells up and causes an obstruction in the intestine, while the string, as the intestine tries to pass it, pulls the bowel tight in a drawstring type manner and then saws through it.
Without going into a lot of detail, let's just say that I administered a lot of lubricants and fluids. By Saturday night he was uncomfortable, panting and straining. I increased his fluids and we prayed. I really didn't want to take him to surgery, but I wasn't going to let him suffer either.
The next morning Isaac felt better, then I ran a barium study on him to watch for an obstruction.
He did pass the barium, and although we checked and checked, he NEVER passed the foreign body.
Because Isaac unquestionably ingested the tampon, we didn't see it on the barium study, nor did he pass it, I believe that God took care of Isaac for us. There is no other explanation.

Because God loves Chickie. And he loves us.
And, of course, He loves Isaac!

Update

Thank you for your sweet thoughts and prayers.
Isaac made a miraculous, and I do mean miraculous recovery.
We've been without power/internet/phone since Thursday night, but I shall return as soon as we  get it back.

I've been blogging less, recently. We've had a lot going on.

We lost our darling Clarence.

Then we had a family emergency.

Now Isaac is seriously ill.

It's Bloomin' Tuesday!

It's a rainy, rainy day. But the pansies are blooming. And I've nowhere to go, so I'm enjoying them. Yellow, purple, red, white.

It's been a great spring for pansies. Cool, rainy. I've got 'em everywhere. Front porch, back porch. All in containers though, because bunnies love pansies, too!

Turning 50, part 2

So, as mentioned before, Mister and I took my 50th birthday off last week. One of the things we did was to explore a wonderful antiques place called Graybeards, in Jacobus, PA.
We found some treasures!

The vanity lamps are a perfect fit for this piece. They transform it!

Here's a close-up.

Mister found this piece. He is Polish/Lithuanian, and so he was thrilled. It hangs in our foyer now, looking terrific.

I remember this tablecloth from my childhood. I have the one that my mom gave me. It's a bit tattered, and I treasure it. I found this one, in mint condition!

Right now, it hangs over the back of an old chair in the dining room. In front of some old, beautiful cabinet doors we found in the garage.

Turning 50

Yep. I did it.
This past Friday, as a matter of fact.
I turned.....50!

I'd been dreading it, so I took the day off, and persuaded Mister to do the same.
I'll tell you about our busy and fun day in posts to come.
Suffice it to say, that throughout the day Mister would turn to me and exclaim, "I'm having a ball today!"
It was a pretty good day, indeed.

I think I like being 50!

The day before my birthday my sister and I had lunch at Cracker Barrel, where I saw these little plates. I bought one for myself, one for my mom and one for my sister.
They are our new spoonrests. A little bit of sunshine.
A simple pleasure.

I was inspired by all the green as I gazed out this window today. A wealth of green leaves. Too numerous to count. Again, I see God's extravagant love!

Clarence enjoyed the view too. I have a lot of posts about him, because he has brought us great joy in the almost-year we have had him. Unfortunately, he has a terminal illness and won't be with us much longer.

We love you, Clarence. You are a blessing and a dear kitten.

Retro '40's Kitchen in Red and White!

Mister and I kind have a a crush on a house. We've attended 2 Open Houses there. It's an 1860's mansion with an vintage apartment on the third floor.



The apartment kitchen is so adorable I could live in it! The red and white floor is wonderful. Plenty of room to eat in the kitchen.



Nice corner hutch and door to outside.





Great red counter. And white cabinets.




Do you see the window seat? All the windows in the apartment have window seats!
