A Specially Good Dreary Day

If I am home and in nesting mode, I don't mind a dreary day.  Such was the case today.

I was up early, ate, went to the gym, after which I always feel quite righteous.

Came home, showered, took my in-laws for our weekly grocery run.  (Snowmen salt/pepper/sugar/creamer in the living room)

Put away the groceries.  It was raining by then.  I noticed that the Baby (aka Zeek) was in particular need of snuggle time.

I got my laptop, phone, Kindle, and obliged.  We both got a nice relaxing, snuggle time.  Complete with nap.  Aaaaah.  To actually have some time to do Nothing on one's day off is indeed a luxury.

Obviously, I am quite smitten with a certain sparkly cloche.  And the candlesticks scored at a shop last summer.  Smitten, I tell you!

The joy for the season comes from my Hope.  My Hope that my Saviour provides.  His peace that passeth understanding.  His Joy of salvation.  After 40 plus years, that Joy has not dimmed, that Love has not faded.......... that Joy is year round.

To offset the dreary weather, chili seemed like a good idea.  I think Mister will be pleased when he comes in the door.  A welcoming hot dinner, made with love.
Making a home for my family is one of my greatest joys.

In the kitchen, making chili, I stood by the trash throwing something out and looked at the old imperfect plaster on the kitchen wall of this old house.  Home.  Established.  A physical refuge.  A retreat.  Here for almost 103 years now.
It looks much bigger in photos than it really is.  It's not a big house at all.
It's an expression of our hearts.
What a feeling of gratefulness for our home, what joy in the blessings of home.

Wishing each and every one of you a blessed and cozy Rednesday!

Be Blessed!

I was thinking about what joy the Lord gives, and realized that it is because of the HOPE He supplies.  I listen to this song, and my heart rejoices! I believe yours will, too. I don't usually put links in my posts, but I will make an exception this time, so you know it's gotta be good!

My Hope is in You (Aaron Shust)

I meet with You and my soul sings out
As your word throws doubt far away
I sing to You and my heart cries
Holy!
Hallelujah
Father, You're near!

My hope is
in You Lord
All the day long
I won't be shaken by drought or storm
A peace that passes understanding is my song
And I sing
My hope is in You, Lord

I wait for You and my soul finds rest
In my selfishness, You show me grace
I worship You and my heart cries Glory
Hallelujah
Father You're here!

My hope is in You, Lord
All the day long
I won't be shaken by drought or storm

I won't be shaken by drought or storm
My hope is in You, Lord

Yeah
My hope is in You, Lord

Christmas Stars

Thank you, Vee
Now I can have star Christmas lights like so many others I have admired!

They are on the front porch.

The tree is covered with them.

The foyer is plastered with them.

Why, even the front of the house has its share!

And all of it, ALL of it! is thanks to our dear friend and fellow blogger, Vee!

Have a marvelous day!

After Dinner

Chickie came upon a comical, yet disturbing sight tonight after dinner.

Any of you familiar with our bedecked banister this year have noticed that there is usually a cat or two 'enjoying' it. Bubba took the cake tonight, though.

Although he is very large and thug shaped, he is only 2 years old and still thinks of himself as, well, kitten-y.

I know he's been thinking this one up for a while. It was only a matter of time until he executed it.

I'm joining Kathleen for White Wednesday and Sue for Rednesday!

Christmas Home Tour

Welcome to our Christmas Home Tour!
Joining The Inspired Room for this fun party!
We start in the foyer. You are familiar with the banister and its garland. It's a first for this year.

And has proven to be immensely popular.

The pencil tree is just beyond.  I can enjoy it as I work in the kitchen.

Love, love, love a cloche filled with sparkling ornaments!

The dining room mantel always has candles.  The stockings will be hung from their hangers just before opening them.  The cats think dangling stockings are toys! and insist on batting at them.

So the stocking are hung on the chairs with care.

The living room armoire has been decked out as well.

Since I spend lots of time in the kitchen, it's decorated thoroughly!  More shiney ornaments in a Christmas-y batter bowl.

Cookie cutters in an old glass jar tied with a red ribbon.

Santa is hard at work next to the sink.

Garlands and chippy ornaments over a kitchen door.

Even the little dog gets gussied up for Christmas!

The hutch's red and white plates are there year round, but now the top has some red touches and the (empty) cookie tins add another touch of Christmas.

Make sure to visit Melissa's blog for many more Christmas Home tours!

Have a splendid day,
Carol

Christmas Vignettes: The Tree(s)

We've got a few.

Starting small. On special at Hobby Lobby. $4.50. Gotta love Hobby Lobby. This one's in the kitchen.

You've seen the one in the foyer. I love seeing it when I come home, and when I'm working in the kitchen.

Here's the big one in the family room. We set it up Sunday, and decorated last night.

Lots of sparkle and Christmas color.

The Cat-Tangled-In-The-String-Of-Lights ornament is always displayed prominently.

It's Zeek's first Christmas. He was so happy we put trees in the house. Bedecking them with swinging, sparkly "toys"....that just put it over the top for him!

Have a wonderful weekend,
