Tenth Anniversary Getaway

For our 10th wedding anniversary this month, Mister and I planned a short getaway.

We found this 17th century cottage at We have found our last 3 getaways on this great site.

The original fireplace (nonworking) was filled with romantic candles.  The mantel had been added, but the original beam behind the mantel was massive!

We could see the ax marks on the hand hewn ceiling beams.  The plaster on the walls had wonderful texture.  A curved simple staircase led to the single bedroom and bathroom upstairs.
The eat-in kitchen was fully equipped.

Soapstone counters and sink!

The thick stone walls made for deep window sills.  The window in the kitchen had a lovely wooden Nativity displayed.

Joining Cielo for Show off Your Cottage Monday!
I'll show you more in later posts,
So have a wonderful week, and Happy New Year!

A perfectly charming little cottage. Love those deep walls, which must mean extra warmth. Are they planning to make the fireplace a working one? that would be perfection!

Oops, nearly forgot to wish you a Happy Anniversary!

What a lovley get a way, and to think, people actually raised families in homes of this size. We are spoiled these days, aren't we? Happy anniversary.
