Boehringer's Ice Cream

If you ever are in Adamstown, PA....aka Antiques Capital, USA, make sure to have lunch at Boehringer's.

There was a line when we got there, and with good reason.  Order inside, and eat outside.

We had burgers and milkshakes at the old picnic tables.

The picnic tables overlook a creek.

Beautiful patina.

You can get a glimpse of Boehringer's here. Just a little old white building with a green roof.

Great atmosphere, great food!

Have a wonderful weekend,
Carol

Adamstown Architectural Salvage

Adamstown, PA.  "Antiques Capital, USA".  That's where we came across this amazing place!

Architectural Salvage, Galore!

 Oley Valley Architectural Antiques.

This place was over the top!  If money was no object.....

This is a mantel from a German castle.

Can't fit the whole thing in a frame.

 Anyone have $80,000?

Everywhere I looked I saw treasures.

 One of a kind treasures.

Mantels, furniture, chandeliers, lots of stained glass.

 So, enjoy!

I cannot imagine the millions of dollars of worth in this store.  It was fascinating and a great place to imagine!

Have a marvelous day!

Transform a Room with $15, 2 Hours and a 20 Year Old

Here is Chickie's bedroom.  The original master.  In the turret, no less!
Mister painted the walls with purple stripes 6 years ago.  A beautiful labor of love.
But it was time for a change.  The bedding had been changed, so there was the color inspiration.

Chickie and I went to Home Depot.  We bought a gallon of paint.
Behr Ultra, self priming, in Venus Teal.

Chickie rolled.  I edged.
I have painted many a room.  It ALWAYS takes 2 coats.....until now.
One Coat.  1/2 gallon for the room.
Behr.  Ultra.  Self priming.

You always go back the next day for touch ups.
There were no touch ups to be made.

This paint does everything they advertise!  Unbelievable, but true.
(We usually go with Sherwin Williams, it's Mister's preference.  But I had always used Behr in the past - pre-Mister - because it was economical.)

The color is serene and peaceful......

...beautiful and rich.

So there you are.  $15 (a half gallon), 2 hours, and a 20 year old (Chickie)!

Chocolate Overload Cake

A couple of months ago, I was visiting Jacqueline, at Purple Chocolate Home. She posted about this Chocolate Overload Cake.

I couldn't stop thinking about it.  I looked for an excuse to make it.  Yesterday came the excuse.  Chickie's boyfriend was turning 20...today!
He loves chocolate and I do love to feed the boy.

I made the cake.  Cake Mix Doctor recipe, doctored some more.  Yellow cake mix with pudding in it, 4 eggs, 1 cup vanilla yogurt, about 3/8?? cup unsweetened cocoa, a package of chocolate fudge pudding, 1/2 cup strong brewed coffee.
Blend it all together.
Then add 2 cups semisweet chocolate morsels.
Bake at 350 degrees, took about 50 minutes in a Bundt pan.

When it cools, frost with chocolate fudge frosting.
Then stud it with Hershey kisses, Hershey bars, Krackle bars, Hershey's dark chocolate bars, milk chocolate chocolate morsels, semisweet chocolate morsels.

Melt 1 cup milk chocolate morsels and add 1 tsp corn oil.  Drizzle over all.

Present it to the birthday celebrant and stipulate that it be taken from the house and consumed elsewhere.

Thanks Jacqueline!  That was fun!

Have a marvelous weekend, all!

Hydrangeas and a Column

I hope you had a wonderful weekend.

It's Monday again, and it promises to be another hot day. But the hydrangeas look cool against the pillar on the front porch, don't they?

Summer is wonderful, isn't it!
