I make dinner, Mister cleans up. But to him, cleaning up doesn't mean Putting Away. With our l'il bit of counter space, leaving things to dry overnight on a dish towel just doesn't do it for me.
But I appreciate the clean up.
So last night I decided I would from now and henceforth relieve him of clean up duty. I kindly explained why, and then we came up with a wonderful solution!!!
He will clean, and I will dry and put away. No more counter clutter, my hands are saved, too!
And we accomplish the task together!
Because we have the technology with dry dish towels to dry said pots and pans and utensils, so they do not have to sit out and dry. cluttering up the place til morning.
Go ahead. Go visit Fawn and join in the party at Happy Wives Club!
23. He loves to help me, and is always gladly willing to help when I ask.
24. He's really rocking this beard thing! Oh my gosh, does it look terrific!
25. He laughs a LOT. So we laugh a lot...........together!
26. He supports me being a SAHW.
26. He is so proud of me!
27. He makes 60 sexy. (Um.....I'm 9 years younger. Nowhere close to 60, btw!)
I am a blessed woman indeed!

Well to each her own. I cook; he sometimes cleans-up; he always puts things away in the morning. (I try not to wipe anything believing that it isn't as sanitary as an air drying. You're the scientist, though, think it's all right? Because perhaps I can hand him the dish towel after all.)
Sounds like a good plan and I know you two will make the most of the time together.
Yes, that does sound like a good plan you have worked out. My husband likes to wash, but hates to dry. I'm happy to let him wash as I dry and put away. It is so nice to wake up to a tidy kitchen. Your kitchen is charming, BTW.
We take it turns to cook but I usually clean up, he does n't think it is needed to wash dishes until you run out.
Merle.....
Oh you make me smile...this is just precious!! Thanks for such a wonderful encouraging post...and I am seven years younger than my man! This is a great plan and list.
We are soul sisters! I cook, and he cleans up. AND he likes to leave his dishes air drying all over the counter.
Now, here's where we are different: I don't like it any more than you do, but I am too pathetic to pick up a towel.
I will try very hard to be convicted and inspired. LOL
Oh my husband does the same thing. I am just glad he helps me all the time in the kitchen. At least our husbands are not sitting watching tv they help us.
Hmmm, I think I got the wrong husband... no dishes, no cooking, no nothing!

PS but I must admit that I AM the one that leaves the dished to dry :)
Kati (19) and I clean up together most nights. But my hubby always jumps right in after we have a party or holiday meal, which is when I need his help the most. He hates to dry, and so does Kati. But I don't mind drying and putting away if someone else is going to wash!
I love that you came to a happy solution! Win-win! Teamwork is a great thing, isn't it? :)
What an adorable kitchen, Carol. Love it. The floor is super!
Had to chuckle about the self-cleaning oven in your previous post. Do you know I HAVE that feature but I'm afraid and have never used it!
Love roasted cauliflower. It's sooooo good. Take care and have a nice Thursday! Susan
What a great hubby! My hubs has been a lifesaver for me during this season when our daughter and her family are staying with us while relocating back to this area. He's helped me keep on top of things with a house full. :)
Carol, I LOVE your kitchen! I love that your hubby does exactly what mine does when he cleans the kitchen. And I always love your fabulous Why I Love My Husband list. Mine keeps getting longer too :).
Hi Carol, I like your kitchen. In our house sometimes Hubby cooks but mostly I cook.I wash, Mum wipes and I put away. Hubby always gets us some fruit or an ice cream later in the evening for a snack.
Teamwork.... works for us.
Have a good day

You are my kind of woman! I made that rule a long time ago as I love, love, love to cook and hate, hate hate to clean but he does the same thing. If he doesn't know exactly where it goes he leaves it on the counter. I now come through and do a little straightening, but it has made for a very happy marriage in the kitchen. He does cook once in a while and that has helped all of my boys learn to cook too.
I love your Happy Wives Club! My husband makes me laugh too. That is what first attracted me to him and it hasn't grown old in 33 years of marriage.
When I met my husband and found out he was a chef, I told him that if he would cook I would clean the kitchen..deal! Well, then we had a baby and we had rough times and I had a stressful job and he had days off all to himself. Yeah...I can't remember the last time I cleaned the kitchen. He reminds me of this deal from time to time. ;)
You are right, though, that when we work together, we tend to laugh and play in the kitchen and things get done faster. We should do that more often. :)
Hmmm...nice set-up. I usually do both, but it pleases me. Although I must say that Mr OP does help if needed:)
Enjoy!

Sounds wonderful, I can't stand anything sitting around my small kitchen either.
So sweet and what a blessing!
Hope you have a GREAT weekend...
Blessings,
