Summer Musing

I'm enjoying summer sunshine on old wood floors, and big windows that let it in.

Found out that raw garlic will BURN your skin after peeling and jarring most of the harvest.

So I left some in the garlic baggie to use from the fridge.  The rest, jarred with a little olive oil, went to the freezer.

The homegrown stuff is POTENT!  (Yay!)  Last night I had to cut a single clove into 4 pieces to get it through the garlic press.  It's wonderful.

In other news, the zinnia harvest has been booming!  That's the pressure canner manual next to them on the counter.

Because a few years ago, my Mom gifted me with her Harvest Gold pressure canner from back in the day.
Thanks, Mom!

Hope your summer is going well.  I know I've been missing, but I'm here today!

I know you stay very busy with your veggies during the summer. You zinnia photo reminds me of last year when you gifted zinnias to a passer by who was thrilled!
So special to have your mom's cookware. Enjoy all the goodies you harvest.

Hi, that sunshine shot...awesome.
I've heard the homegrown garlic is strong ....and delicious.
Did I read somewhere that you found out your house isn't a Sears Kit Home??? or am I losin' it???
I don't care if it is or is one beautiful house. :))

What's in the pressure cooker? Moms really are rather generous, aren't they?!

Ah, one of those times when you wish you had smellavision. (I would have said smellaputer, but that just didn't sound right in my head.)

Wow those zinnias are beautiful, and your garlic, impressive! :)

I love your photo of the sunshine across the wooden floor. One day we hope to get proper wooden floors throughout rather than just laminate floors.

Hope you're having a great week!

I got a kick out of my husband passing by as I read your post. He saw your header and exclaimed "what a beautiful home!"

So glad your summer was productive. I noticed your beautiful floor. It's the color of mine and I've been thinking of an area rug with some red in it and saw yours!

Nice to see you pop in for a visit the midst of your beautifully productive summer! You're going to be enjoying the fruits of your labors this winter, although I'm sure you're enjoying them now too.

I love your first picture with the sun shining in across the wood floor!

(Your comment about cats made me smile!)
